A Day on the Chattooga

There's something about the Chattooga River in late September that feels like a hidden secret. Those GPS coordinates led us to Bull Sluice, a spot known for its mix of heart-pounding rapids and serene pockets where the world just fades away.

This shot captures the buzz just before we tackled one of the biggest drops. My pal in the background is adjusting his gear, ready to face the rapids. We're both sporting NRS helmets and PFDs, not only for safety but because they actually make these adventures possible. The river's edge here is a mosaic of worn rock and lush greenery, the kind that reminds you how powerful yet peaceful nature can be.

As the water rushed by, I couldn't help but feel a deep appreciation for these moments. If you've never experienced autumn on the river, you’ve got to get out here—it’s when the Chattooga truly comes alive.
